Surgical gowns are special and necessary clothes that doctors wear before performing a surgery. They are used to reduce the risk of medical personnel exposure to pathogenic microorganisms, and at the same time, they can reduce the risk of pathogenic microorganisms spreading between medical personnel. Before you enter the operation, you should rinse your arms and hands in the right way.

① Stand close to the scrub nurse or scrub tech who will open a sterile towel and lay it over one of your hands. First, dry your fingers, then both of your palms and the acks of your hands. Finally, dry the forearms.

②Take a folded surgical gown, hands shall not touch the remaining operating garment below, away from the chest, the operating table, and other people. Lift both ends of the collar of the operating garment with both hands respectively, gently shake open the operating garment, with one side of the belt facing outwardly. 

③Raise the surgical gown slightly upward, insert both hands into the cuffs at the same time, hand forward, not over the shoulder, wait for the nurse in the back to assist in dressing, so that the hands stretch out the cuffs (if it is no contact wearing gloves, hands do not stretch out the cuffs), do not use the hands without gloves to pull the sleeves or contact other places.

④After putting on the operating garment, bend slightly to suspend the belt, cross your hands and lift the middle part of the belt (do not cross the belt). The traveling nurse will catch the end of the operating garment at the side and back, and tie tight straps at the back to avoid contact with other parts of the operating garment.

⑤Put on the surgical gown and gloves, and hold your hands over your chest while waiting for the operation. Do not lift your hands above your shoulders. Hang under the waist or cross hands under armpits.
